On October 1, 2006 OPSEU Local 330 partnered with the OPSEU Joint Trusteed Benefit Fund to provide its benefit plan through SSQ Financial Group.
SSQ is a mutual insurer that was established in Quebec in the 1940’s as a cooperative providing medical care to workers and their families. Since then, SSQ Financial Group has grown to be the 5th largest group insurer in Canada.
The Trust Fund was established in 1996, as a not for profit multi-employer benefit fund. It offers plan members and employers access to comprehensive and affordable benefit programs, regardless of the size or nature of their workplace. The Trust Fund is made up of many different organizations and its primary focus is to keep prices competitive and maximize buying power.

What is the effective date of our new benefit policy?
The effective date was October 1, 2006.
Who is ClaimSecure?
ClaimSecure is the claims payor for your health, drug and dental benefits.
If I have any outstanding claims/receipts dated prior to October 1, 2006 where do I send them?
Outstanding claims prior to October 1, 2006 should be sent to Sun Life for reimbursement. Any health, drug or dental claims made on or after October 1, 2006 should be sent to ClaimSecure.
Is there a time limit for outstanding Sun Life claims?
Yes. Sun Life will only accept claims for 90 days; therefore claims will have to be received by Sun Life no later than December 31, 2006.
Have there been any changes to my benefits?
No. All benefits are the same as they were at Sun Life.
Will my limits start over for the current calendar year?
No. Sun Life has provided SSQ with current member usage and the limits will not start over until January 1, 2007.
Will I have to pay my deductibles again?
No. Sun Life has provided SSQ with information regarding deductibles already paid by employees.
Will I receive a booklet outlining my benefit coverage?
Yes. You should receive your booklet shortly.
Is my Certificate number the same as my Employee I.D. number?
No. SSQ uses a unique number for each member which you can find on the front of your card following the three zeros.
I understand that there is an open window that will allow me to add or better my benefits?
Yes. Members have until November 30, 2006 to increase their life insurance one level without medical evidence as well as to participate in the health and / or dental benefits. After November 30, 2006 evidence of insurability will be required to add or increase benefits. If you choose to participate in the open enrolment, the changes to your benefit plan will be effective January 1, 2007.
Do I need a separate card for Out of Province Travel Insurance?
No. Contact information for Out of Province Travel claims in on the back of your benefit card.
If for some reason my card doesn’t work what should I do?
For Health and Dental inquiries there is a toll free number on the front of your benefit card. ClaimSecure’s toll free number is 1-888-777-8811.
